I couldn't decide whether this fit better in the BF forum or not, but does anyone know what the blade hole diameter for the AFCK Axis is? Is it the standard Spydie hole diameter or is it the 14 mm one? Thanks.

Oval holes aren't necessarily bad. The oval hole on the Buck Odyssey works very well. Additionaly, an oval hole allows for some design diversity that's sometimes missing from the round hole. I don't know about Benchmade's oval, though. And of course, the Spydie round hole works great, as always.

I have a couple of BM Griptillians with the oval hole. Like the BM555s Mini-Grip as a offside carry companion for my C48 Wegner.

(Wegner JRs are getting a bit scare to open boxes and cut condiut with at work, and I only have one and it is #468.)

Love the knives (basically Wegner / original Terzoula clipit hybrid/rippoff profile) with an axis lock, but DAMN do I wish that they would have kept the Spyderco round hole instead of this so-so oval. It works, but is much less forgiving than the original round hole. Took me a few days of playing with them to get the right touch.

Oh. I didn't know it was an oval. On the Benchmade site, it lists the opening mechanism as a round thumb hole, and in fine print, it says "liscensed by Spyderco" or something like that. Wouldn't this mean that it is a round hole, since they had to get permission from Spyderco to use it?

Benchmade is no longer licensing the trademarked Spyderco round hole. They have since gone to an oval shaped hole.

The older AFCK's were round, but they didn't have an Axis lock.
