I was just in a knife store in Santa Fe and saw a mini AFCK with a tanto blade. It looked really cool. Are these new? Are they still available?

They're relatively new, last months Knife of the Month. 1000 pieces made, I'd say it is a nice knife, but it was a little to pricey for me to keep. I paid $120 which is a tad too much for another mini afck. Great for a collector, but not for me.

I was just in Santa Fe the other day and it is indeed on of Benchmades Knife of the Month. I want to say it was the June knife. Nice little shop there in Santa Fe.

Thanks for the info guys.

Just a few more questions....

1)Do they make a Large version?

2) Who has them for sale?

Easy rider, it was my first time to NM. My friend just got married and I was quite taken by the beauty of Taos and Santa Fe. I will definitely visit again. I got to see the Santa Fe Arts & Craft show.

When I was in Albuquerque, I saw a sign for a gun and knife show this past weekend. Did you go? How was it?

You can see tanto AFCK on Darknemesis homepage. There is link in his signature to his BM page(if I remember correctly).

R.R., I went to that gun show. It really wasn't anything to write home to Mom about. It seemed every other booth had AR-15's or Sks's. There were a couple of good knife vendors. On the plus side,I was able to handle a BM 730 Ares for the first time. Fit and Finish seemed first rate, but it really didn't feel comfortable in my hand. I have been thinking about getting one, now I know not to.
Next time you are out here take some time and head up to Durango/Silverton CO. area. If you liked Taos, you will love southern CO.
Make sure you stop in Chama to check out the Steam Locomotive. They run several time a day. Great fun.

Ronald Reagan:

They do make a large one, it is called the 800SPECIAL. On the backside of the blade it says " 1 of 135 " and " Prototype 1998 "

The Tanto AFCK was originally designed to be the HK special edition to replace the discontinued HK CQC-7 970HK that Benchmade made for the Handgun manufacturer Heckler & Koch. Hk delcined the deal, and went with the actual Emerson CQC-7 instead. There are actually 136 of the 800SPECIALs, and #1 has the HK logo on it, the other 135 have the Balisong/Benchmade logo on them. I have a picture on my website, and so does Dark Nemisis.

I have seen a few of the 800SPECIALs at my local gun shows in Indiana, but I doubt there are many on the market left.

Hope this helps!

If I remember correctly, late last year, there were some of the 800 specials for sale or on an auction. Again, if my memory is correct, they ended up going for around $200. I like the design, not $200 worth of like.

Q-Ball,

Thanks for the info. So the large one is not a knife of the month?

I would really love to get a hold of one these.
