Nope, not really. But I sure wish they would, I think that would be one sweet knife. I was recently told that McHenry @ Williams have made a auto axis. So now I know it's possible ,so why hasn't BM made one. I think it would a huge following. What do you think.

Although this may seem like a good idea, the creation of a auto axis would be fairly difficult to reproduce in mass quantities due to the large number of devices near the pivot. Also, I don't believe there is a very large market for autos due to their legal restrictions. (and the rest of the market is basically owned by cheapies and microtech) Many people think that the axis is already fast enough without being auto.

Still, I'd think it'll be cool to see one.

Actually,Dave,it would be rather easy to mass produce,as there`s not much more to it than a "standard" Axis.

Thanks for the replies, now maybe if we can get enough of a response. I'll print this up and send it to BM.

It would be fun, but the plunge lock on most autos is strong and reliable enough that an axis lock wouldn't provide much of an improvement. Now if it was made as a coil spring DA you might have something going. But still, MT is hard competition in the auto market. Although a DA 710 or 940 would be nice. How 'bout a cleverly concealed DA axis AFCK? Now that would be a knife that would sell well. Who wants one?

Really...from what I read before about the idea of an auto axis, placing a axis bar with a coil spring nearby the pivot would create a problem because there would be so many devices and not enough space. I could be wrong though...

Chang, I'd also wouldloveto see an auto axis stryker.

Does anyone realize that WJMcHenry is the inventor of the axis lock

! I think that if anyone would know about the ease of creating an auto axis lock, it would be him!

I did. Which is why thanks to his post I'm hoping maybe it's something that could actully happen. How about it what are the chances will see one by BM McHenry. Come on, Iknow you can convince them.

I'll settle for a manual AFCK Axis lock.
Dave, regarding that very thing, got an email response today from Travis at Benchmade telling me to "stay tuned".
Maybe there is hope!
Bring on the Axis AFCK

Axis AFCK would be nice too! Automatic Axis AFCK or Stryker in M2 steel. Or better yet, talonite! With a 6061-T6 aluminum handle, kraton inserts, and black anodize! Beefed up axis omega springs too!

I would love to see an Axis AFCK. We had been asking for one for so long, I was afraid it wouldn't come to fruition. What exactly did Travis say? Did he go in more detail?

Ha, I just got back online, and there was your post. One minute old.
Anyway, no he didn't go into detail. Here is my email and his reply.
From me:
Re: AFCK axis lock
"It was suggested in a thread (on the BM forum) that everyone who wants an Axis lock AFCK should let you know.
I WANT AN AXIS LOCK AFCK AND WILL BUY AT LEAST THREE IF YOU WILL JUST MAKE THE DANG THINGS!!!!
So there."
To me/from travis@benchmade.com:
Well said.
Point taken.
I feel your pain.
Stay tuned.

Best regards,

Travis Noteboom

I don't want to read too much into that, but like I said before-maybe there's hope.
Everybody that wants one should go to the Benchmade Forum and email BM support team.
We will harass them until they give us what we want!
Making an Axis AFCK should be a moot point anyway. Should have already been done. Like I said-I'll take three right off the bat.

I thought it was Spyderco that would not allow BM to use the Spydie hole for another knife?

Maybe you should E-mail Sal Glesser.

An Axis lock doesn't need a Spyderhole, anyway.
btw, we're not talking about a new knife, just a new option.
They replaced allen w/torx screws-same knife.
They put aluminum scales on it-same knife.
They put an M2 steel blade on it-same knife.
It's had plain, combo, serrated edges-same knife.
Why would the locking mechanism be any different?-same knife.

Good question. The only argument I have heard for not producing an Axis AFCK is the licensing issue. Several people have said that it would be a new knife and that Spyderco wouldn't license the hole for the knife. I feel that one could argue that it is not a new knife, only an update to an old one.

I'll keep my finger crossed.

Remember that Benchmade recently released the June knife of the month with a tanto blade. So I guess it should still be okay to produce...hopefully Sal with okay it.
