Has anyone removed the safety on their BM auto? I want to get one, but the sliding safety just isn't cool. I'm thinking it could be removed without too much hassle. If you know how the mechanism works, please tell.

It is easily enough removed. Just open up the handles and you can lift it right out and that is that!

The safety is really simple, on the Auto-Stryker you can look in and see how it works. If you have the Auto-Stryker, and the operation of the locking mechanisim is not self-evident, then you should think twice about taking it apart.

There's not really a need to remove the safety. Just turn it off. On my Stryker it clicks into place both on and off. The safety has never moved in either direction unless I moved it. Just remember, if you do remove it, don't lose the pieces. If you need to send it back to Benchmade, you'll have to send it in one piece for them to honor the warranty. Benchmade's warranty does not allow you to disassemble any knife. FYI, I've had to send my Auto Stryker back twice in 4 years. Once, after 3 months, due to loose blade lockup, second time, after 3 years, due to a broken spring. Both times I got good service and no charge.
