about ready to order one of these(705 model)and they may look like the pocket clip is a little farther down than i normally like em'.does it show too much out of the pocket? i also don't know about the tip up either. heck i should just take the heat from my wife and get the speedtech....lol. she would kill me after she found out the price!

The two knives are vastly different in size. I had a 705 but gave it to the pop-in-law. I don't recall too much of the knife sticking out of the pocket though. I think that the Speedtech is more noticable clipped to the pocket with that wide funky lookin' shiny clip and all. Personally - size difference aside - I'd choose the Speedtech. In fact I did! I still have my blue Synergy with sort of a subdued mirror finish. More than a satin, not quite a mirror. Great knife. Here's a scan:

Good luck with the hunt...

guess i'll just have to get that 705

Think about this... You *know* that you'll spend at least $250 on knives over the next few months. Better to spend it on what you really want than a few of what you don't want as much. That's not to say that the 705 isn't nice - it is. But I've found out the hard way that it's cheaper to get what you want in the first place.

Shawn: Get the 705 and live to buy again. Also, once you have a $250 knife, the next one you want will be more. It's human nature.

senator...since you have a speedtech,is it just me or is the handle thick for pocket carry? i have never seen one in person so i'm going by the pic's,i need glasses so forve me if i'm wrong....lol

Shawn,

I was drooling in anticipation for months waiting for the 705 to come out in plain edge and to be my new daily carry knife but although it is a superb knife I dont find it caiires that well because of the nice pointy end that sticks into our waist if you carry iwb.

It however goes superbly in the little pocket inside the right hand pocket of a pair of my Hagar chinos, my Calypso Jrn is too wide to go in this pocket well.

The 705 rides best at the bottom of my pocket in work clothes, clipped well with no exceeding protrusion in the right pocket when wearing jeans, and perfectly inside a regular Leatherman sheath when camping.

As far as being clipped inside the pocket, the 710 nor the 705 have ever been anything short of wonderful. Sure, there's a little more meat sticking out, but it assists me on the draw. The Benchmade 705 is in my worthless opinion the finest production pocket knife in terms of versatility and resistance to long-term wear that's ever been born. Professor.
