Hey guys........any tips on getting those 2 small sleeves out that hold the torx in near the blade? These things are tight and will not budge a bit. Are they loc-tited in also?

Mike, those part are pressfitted with a lot of pressure, getting'em out will be VERY difficult.

Most probably you'll need a pnuematic press to do it, and be careful so you don't bend the top part of the handles.

Good luck, watcha got cooking???

... You might want to consult with em again... I seem to remember hearing around here that popping those pins out would void the warranty. I don't know if you're replacing the blade (in which case it wouldn't matter) or doing something to the handles (in which case it still might) but it might be a conisderation

To push the sleeves out, you need to use a pin that will push on the inside of the sleeve,(a pin that is smaller in size then the screw). The sleeves are not that hard to remove, just be carfull not to loose the 4 washers that space the blade from the handles. I've had my 42 apart more then once to do my own custom work and recomend making your knife the way you want it. From the factory these knives need a personal touch and the best way to work on them is to take them apart. Check out the bali-song collecters page to see Chucks diagram on the pin set-up.
