Just about to purchase a Gripitilian (leaning twoards the Griptilian), or a Presidio, and saw this Blue Lube stuff, should I purchase it? I'm also getting the Spyderco Sharpmaker set.

Also, any opinions on the knives?

I have a 525 PE. I like the knife but I don't use it much because of the aluminium handle. I prefer G-10 or micarta or FRN, depending on what I'm doing. The 525 is a great knife, though. I do carry mine some when I'm not at work.

As far as lubes go, I'm currently using Tuff-Glide. I've used Militec and Break-Free before, but I really like the dryness of Tuff-Glide... seems not to attract as much gunk.

Some people say blue lube is to thick and slows down the blade action (bad on an AXIS lock), I use Break free myself.

For me 3-1 oil works very well, just be sure to dry well after you apply any lube, because excess lube is about the worst at attracting dirt.

For Axis locks, I really wouldn't be too worried about using lube at all.

Just clean out the dirt from the lock every once in a while with a toothpick or those compressed air cans, and the lock should continue to run smoothly.
