Just Picked up the Benchmade Knife Bone Collector 15030 Axis D2 Tool Steel for 77 bucks online..seems like a very cool knife..How do u think this compares to BM Griptilian? Better/Worse?

I've had a ton of Grips / mini-Grips and a couple of BCs. I prefer the BCs by a long margin. I like their D2 blade steel and the blade shape better than that of the standard Grips, I like the G10 scales far better than the Noryl scales on the grips, and the small BC is actually long enough for my hand to get 4 fingers on the handle, which the mini-G is not.

I have both minis--the Grip and the BC. I find the size of the Grip a little short, while he BC is perfect, and the gimping on the handles is excellent; the BC grips my hand without any irritation.

On the other hand, I much prefer the shape of the Grip's blade. I don't like the following about the BC's blade:

--the shape doesn't work for me
--the hole is too small
--I hate the Bone Collector logo on it

My solution was to take the blade from a Mini Presidio and have it swapped out; they're the same size.

In this version it is the perfect knife for me.

I bought my wife a 15030-2 - the walnut handled variant - for a few buck$ more. My wife had given me a 15030-2 for Christmas (Same price - most of my BM's were bought locally!). My wife loved the knife she bought me - had to have one like it. To be totally honest, if I hadn't already gotten the two-tone regular BC, 15020-1, I'd love the smaller walnut one. Not so fond of the BC logo, but, at 62, I doubt I'll go Goth! I just tell folks I borrowed it from Abbie on NCIS...

Seriously, my hands are medium+ - the larger one works better for me - even compared with my 950 Rift - or old 551 440C Grip. Either size BC is a great EDC - D2 is a great steel. Sadly, a prior favorite, the 710 in D2, now sits alone...

Even the BC fb - like my favorite, my 15005-2, is a hard act to follow - especially for a great D2 knife & sheath for a street price around a C-note! I think the BC's are bargains.

I just picked up a LNIB mini bone collector (thanks ASBOB!) and just love it.

I even like the blade shape better than I thought I would.

It has quickly become my favorite EDC knife. Feels great in the hand and in the pocket. In my opinion, the G10 scales are a HUGE upgrade from the mini griptillian and well worth the additional cost.
