BM Clip Problem

Hey everyone, the clip on my BM 420, was hyperextended and now it sticks out. I can't seem to fix it so it is like a clip is supposed to be. Ive tried hoding it down with rubber bands and and carefully pressing it down with tools. Anyone know a good way to fix this? I doubt BM offers any type of warranty on this type of thing. Thanks for any tips.

Actually they do have warrenty for this kinda thing. Just email or call warrenty and ask them for a replacement clip.

Take it off the knife by removing the torx screws and bend it back into shape, then reattach. Try not to overflex your clip again, you only get to do this fix a few times before the clip will work harden and/or break.

Benchmade will send you a replacement if you call and ask them! Otherwise, if it is a "standard" benchmade clip, put it in a bench vise and bend it back.

I'd simply get you a T-6 torx driver at Sears and take it off. They run about $3. Once off simply rebend the clip down so it is tighter on your pants. Chances are you will need it again as this is not the first time I've read of this happening with BM clips.
I don't think they harden their clips to the same level of the competitors.

thanks for the info, a new clip is in the mail. However, now my problem is i've stripped all the screws holding the broken clip in place ... any ideas on how to get the scews out at this point?

You will have to use a dremmel, mandrel and some thin kerf cut off discs from Sears, Lowes, or Wal-Mart in the dremmel section. Cut a slot in the top of the screws for a small flat head screw driver using the thinnest non reinforced disc you can find. Sears sells some small thin brown ones I really use a lot and they cut fast. You can also get gray ones that work well at local jewelery supply stores.

Once you get the old ones out you can get new 2-56 screws from a knife supply house like Texas Knifemaker supply or Jantz supply. Buy the 1/4" so you hopefully won't have to cut them or grind them down but they may still be a tad longer than they need to be.
