I'm looking for a general purpose fixed blade with blade length greater than 4". I'm looking to spend no more than $75. Not too picky about steel. I like the design and size of the CSK II, but I've heard stories about the blade cracking or huge chunks of the blade going missing when chopping. Does anyone know if this is still happening?

If it's still a problem, would you recommend the BM Rant, Grip (fixed, of course), Spyderco Aqua Salt, or something else?

Thanks.

For the knives you are asking about, you may get better response if you asked the question in General.
I know the title of this sub forum includes fixed blades, but they are usually earlier production knives, or current production knives that have the appearance of vintage knives... I hope that made sense

Not to say that you shouldn't hang out here. There are a lot of great folks, and a lot of knowledge to be shared. Also some great pics of some very cool kives

I debated between that and posting in Fixed blades. Thanks for the suggestion.

Most of that reputation comes from Nutnfancy's review on Youtube.

He did chip the knife out doing some pretty light duty limb stripping on a downed tree. It was pretty darn cold outside, looked to be below zero so that could of been a factor.

He does good reviews. I was pretty disappointed in the knife from what I saw. It may have been an anomoly, but I wouldnt buy it from what I saw.

Benchmade did replace his I think, but didnt address what happened.

Sounds like a Becker Companion BK2 should fit the bill.

I own 2 csk's, and they work fine. Every manufacture produces knives that break from time to time, and i wouldent take nut-n-fancy's reviews as the gospel. He does make some good points, and many bad ones also.

Leaving your views about his reviews out of it, there is only one way to take what happened to that knife. It doesn't have this reputation just because of what nutnfancy says, it has this reputation because it failed, failed badly, on film. Although I will agree with you that it's not fair to condemn the knife on that instance alone, it could very well have just been a lemon.

theres also the becker bk7 or bk9
edit: nevermind, you already linked the bk7
