A friend popped up this question and I had to tell him to chose based on what his exact requirements are. The BM CSK is also made of 1095 and is selling for $70. And hence the dilemma he had. What do you guys think?

Aren't those knives built for completely different uses? They don't seem very similar. I think your advice was good.

I used to think BM are one of the best around. But i saw a field use video by nutnfancy and i was shocked how the edge chipped in the snow! Even for the intended purpose as a survival knife, it can fail i guess.

I'll take any RAT over a Benchmade fixed blade. I personally find Benchmade's fixed blades to be lacking that rigidity RATs have. Also, Nutnfancy did a review on the CSK (1 or 2, can't remember) , and in this review the CSK chipped MAJORLY (chunks were missing of the blade) when he tried to clear some thin branches from a tree he took down. Mind you, he did it in cold weather.
I also think that the RC-3's design is more suitable for random camp tasks.
Can't beat RAT's warranty neither.
