Wich one do you guys like as a survival/beater in the woods. Just a knife to carry on long hikes, and to use while camping and/or against animal attacks 4 legged and 2.

I'm had both (Actually, still have the B/M CSK), & while the SOG's blade is a little longer (7" vs 6"), I'd give the nod to the B/M. It has better steel & if you're talking about hikes & such, where severe rust resistence isn't as much an issue, then I'd take D2 over AUS 6 anyday (Or AUS 8 that's on other versions of the SOG 2000).

I would have to say the BM. I have had bad experiences with sog and would not recommend them. Anyways, can't go wrong with the BM!

I've been pretty happy with my CSK. I can't comment on the SOG as I've never even handled one.

I have my buddies Seal 2000 that he carried over in the sand box and he loved it. He gave it to me for my birthday when he was home on leave and I gave him my Strider to take back with him. He had nothing but praise for the SOG and he said he would use it to imitdate the unfriendlies. They respect blades more than bullets over there according to him.

Dont have either, but have you seen the new for 2008, CSKII?

Hmm... kinda looks set up to be a competitor to the Cold Steel SRK. I think the original CSK was better, albeit pricier... might have to pick one up.

I have used the 2000 extensivly last year. It's an OK knife for hacking and what not, but it's far from a good woods knife. Great for protection tho. I now leave mine in the truck for protection only.
