Unless this has already been done, and I haven't run across it. We should have enough collectors in this group to come together and put a timeline for the various Tang stamps used by BM over the years. I know they've had the following versions:
1) Stamped Butterfly with stamped U.S.A. on the back.
2) Etched Butterfly with etched U.S.A. on the back.
3) Etched Butterfly with etched Bali-Song U.S.A. on the back.
4) Etched Butterfly with etched Bali-Song U.S.A. on the back, but with the blade type etched on the spine.
I know all my bali's with #3 came from 1987 through 1990. An the ones with #4 came after 1991. Anyone else?
