can the experts out there please explain what the battle mistress differences are?
cg , ff , he , fusion , nm
i mainly want to know about the grooves
whats with the grooves? hard to clean? do they make the blade weaker?
corrosion in grooves?

The grooves on the cg (combat grade) FBM (fusion battle mistress) are called CBT (corrugated bevel technology). They allow for a blade to be made of thinner stock, yet still be incredibly strong. Don't ask me about the physics, though...there are far better hogs here than I when it comes to explaining that.

My CG FBM is over 1/4" thick, the groves are easy to clean, I just put a bunch of 3-in-1 oil on it and let it sit a few mins then wipe it off with a rag. For harder stuff WD-40 works good.

Groves are my friend. Don't let them fool you, that blade is thick and strong. Doesn't get wedged much either.

The grooves have been called corrugated bevel technology (CBT) by Busse. The benefits may include less friction when chopping/splitting (from decreased surface area of the wedge stuck in your material), and increased resistance to lateral forces (think - sticking the knife in a vice and bending it sideways; sort of like an I-beam).

I like em!

Fusion is the designation for the handle shape and is the "F" in a given knife's acronym, e.g. cgFbm, Fbmle, ffFbm.

In the Battle Mistress family only the CGFBM and its one-off variants have CBT.

The LE does not have CBT, the FF(F)BM does not have CBT, the Ergo BM and Straight Handle BM do not have CBT. The NMFBM (nuclear meltdown = rounded edges) does not have CBT.

This is a great argument to get another CGFBM.
