This new model seems somewhat interesting. It's pretty big but besides that it's ok material wise. I'm thinking about getting it in March as a general boat/fishing knife. I believe the 440c will serve nicely but still may rust a little. Overall, if not for utility purposes, I may just get one for it uniqueness
( haven't ever seen somthing similar from BM). If anybody has any thoughts please share.

This is a bizarre knife to me. It's way too big, I prefer 3 to 3.5" blades and often use a large BM pouch for street carry. This thing would have to be complicated to fold up like that and would absolutely require a sheath. I wonder if BM even makes one that would fit it?

But I've only seen it in the photos at the BM site. Maybe my opinion would change seeing one for real. Maybe is the key word here...

440c is really good steel and takes a lot of abuse while being easier to sharpen than the current premium steels, such as D2 and S30V.

I have a 440c BM 831s Ascent, which has been in the tackle box for years, and I have yet to kill it. And it's never had rust issues as yet.
