I have a new benchmade griptillian fixed blade that i bought from local store about two months ago. I just realized that there is no benchmade logo on it. Does anyone know if it is supposed to have one? any help would be appreciated. Hate to think I got ripped off.

Every BM that I've ever owned/looked at had the logo....and I've got a Grip in my pocket right now. Where did you buy it (name of store), and how much did you pay? Does it have the model number anywhere on the blade?

it should have a logo on the presentation side of the blade, the left side if it was pointed away from you. does it have the mel pardue design logo on the other side? how about the blade steel stamp? because if it is sterile it could have slipped through the cracks, not likely but possible, or you got ripped off. also what kind of box did it come in?

I dont have it in front of me, but it is marked with the the pardue and 154cm on the blade. it is in a benchmade box model 151 i believe with paperwork. I own alot of BM balisongs, and the box looks legit. I bought it right across the border in Kentucky ill have to check the reciept to get the name of the store.

thats odd that it has the designer and the blade steel stamp. could the logo just worn off?

Well maybe someone took it off but they did a great job. the blade is perfect with no blemishes.

The model number matches up alright, so it sounds legit, you might just have had one that fell through the QC cracks. It's rare, but it does happen. Here is a link to where the logo should be located on that blade. If you don't see it on yours, and it bothers you, I'm sure you could work something out with Benchmade. But, honestly, if it passed their QC tests I'd let it go. It's still gonna cut like a BM and last like one. Just my thoughts.

On BM's website, they show both models of 151 with the logo. Check to see if your store comes up on the BM dealer locator. If they come up, there's a good chance that it's legit and either someone removed it or it passed through the factory. Seems unlikely that it would have the Pardue and 154CM stamps and be bogus. If the store is close, go return it and get another one if you can.

Have there been any reported instances of counterfeited Grips? I have heard that some BM and EMerson models have been counterfeited, and I have seen some Spyderco ripoffs on the bay.

Was it a storefront dealer or more of a flea market type seller?

Thanks for the link.

This was bought at a tactical shop across the street from Ft. Campbell. They Didn't have a large knife selection but they were all name brand. It was a nice shop, not a shady place. I sent an e-mail to benchmade, and hopefully they will shed some light on this.

You would be better off to call then after the holidays. They can be slow at answering their e-mails.
