Is there any way to get the mini grip in 20cv without having to purchase a -1 model? My end goal would be a mini grip with 20cv blade and AWT scales.

I tried the custom maker but once 20 cv is selected the price jumps to $200

You could buy a -1 and a pair of AWT scales and when you get them both in swap scales and sell the -1 scales. Also, look on the exchange for a -1 used and it'd be a lot cheaper than $200.

unless you buy used the only way that I know to get 20cv not in the -1 is the custom maker, which you already know about.

Yeah, I might have to try to find one on the exchange. I certainly do not want to buy the -1 new then exchange the scales because BM really charges you already for that G10.

You can customize one, choose the stock scales and it comes out to $150.

Sorry, I tried to attach a screenshot, but can't figure out how to.

If you're lucky, you might be able to find the doug ritter m390 griptilians, and then replace the scales for them, unless you REALLY like one of the blade shapes of the original grips

That's what it came out to when I tried it as well. There was a pricing issue earlier on with the new custom builder but it looks like they've fixed it now.

$150 for a mini-Grip with stock scales and a CPM 20CV blade. Then add in the price of the AWT scales and try selling off or trading the unused stock scales once the AWTs are installed.

Buy the 20CV and a plain Mini. Sell the plain mini and throw in the G10 scales and recoup some funds back. I would sell the second one with the G10 scales installed and you should be able to fetch and extra $50.

I was on the same boat a few months ago, and I did exactly as others have said. I bought the 555-1 and some awt hive scales. I sold the g10 ones on the bay for a just about $65. It was worth it to me. I also bought my 555-1 used. I got it for $115. So all together I think I have about $150. It's doable you just have to be patient and find a cheap 20cv knife.

Oh yeah, don't forget about lifesharp (I think that's what their warranty is called). So if you get a blade with a bad grind on it from bad sharpening, you can always switch it out. Also what blade shape would you prefer on your grip? For me it would be the faux-spydie hole

I'm not a fan of the sheeps foot blade. I would go with the drop point.
That's fair enough, both choices are good, but personally, I don't like to hand-feel of the mini grip, it doesn't feel like a work knife with my pinky hanging out to the side. Which I feel is really nit-picky because this is the definition of a perfect small package edc for me that will go above and beyond my expectations. (MAP pricing too, but for benchmade, that's a steal)
