I'm looking at these two, can't do both, basically for EDC. I recently got a scallion and really like the speed safe action. I also have a BM axis lock and it is also fast opening. So maybe opening is a mute point. What are your thoughts and choice? Any advice on the steels would also be appreciated. Is the S30V on the leek that much better than the regular Sandvic 13C26? You do get the G10 scales with S30V. Maybe the mini grip M390 and a regular Leek?

M390 is the best steel of the knives mentioned and the Axis lock is the best lock.

I own the g10 leek. The pointy blade design on the leeks are not very good for hard edc jobs. They're fine for minor tasks like getting boxes open. I like the flipper on it. I carry it in my left front pocket, which is my weak side. The flipper really helps me get that sucker open quickly.

I recently got a ritter griptillian and I am really happy with it. This is my first axis lock and I now know what all the fuss is about. Love it.

I don't think you can go wrong with either.

I am probably going to pick up the m390 griptillian soon.

The M390 will hold an edge far longer than S30V.
S30V will hold an edge far longer than 13C26.
13C26 will take a finer edge than either M390 or S30V. I find that it holds it long enough to be just fine for my daily use.

I prefer the design of the Mini-Griptilian to that of the Leek. But that's a personal choice of what feels good to you and what blade design you like.

At the end of the day, I can't tell you that one knife is better than another. I consider that it's a matter of what properties and design features you value most in a knife.

M390 mini grip is a limited edition and once its sold out you are S.O.L. The kershaw isnt going anywhere any time soon. The mini is a great little knife. Get that one while you still can and if it doesnt float your boat then sell it and pick up something else.

Also consider the wilkins grips for the mini that transform it to a totally different knife (although they cost more than the knife itself haha)
