Hi,

BM Mini Presidio II CF Elite vs Hogue Deka (the new one with deep carry clip). The steel is different that's one thing that's why the Hogue is more expensive.
If anyone has both of this knives please let me know which has better ergonomics and action (closing and opening).
I didn't like the Bugout. I think the thumbstud was at the wrong place. I didn't take it apart and polished the washers and not even put oil on it, but I saw oil on it as brand new knife. Maybe it was the factory or someone already sent it back to the shop. Also the scales were slippery.

I have never heard the Presidio compared to the Deka. The Deka in my opinion is closer to the Bugout than the Presidio. The Presidio is one of the most underrated blades out there. Good ergos, FULL steel liners and decent all around materials for the money. I got mine for about $110.

Hogue makes some great stuff. Love the Ritter. The Ritter RSK was the sharpest and smoothest knives out of the box i have ever bought.

The only thing the Deka offers over the Presidio really in my book is the blade steel. 20cv is my favorite steel these days but it's really just s30v on steroids so the Presidio isn't a chump in that category. If you want light weight then go with the Deka. If you want a little heavier then go with the Presidio.

I don't know about the presidio but if you are eyeing the new hogue magnacut, plan on buying aftermarket scales for it.

A little heavier is an understatement, The Hogue Deka is an ultra lightweight thin bladed slicing knife that is well designed and thought out, The Benchmade Presidio is heavy duty and a very very good knife for the money. It is very underrated. Unlike the Deka you will know when a thick heavier Presidio is in your pocket. The grip and ergonomics of the the Presidio is better than the small, thin Deka in a way that only a larger thicker grip can provide unless you have unusually small hands.

I would not compare the two since they are different designs. Both are very good designs each having their own advantages and unavoidable trade offs. Pick the one that you need for what you intend to use it for.

I see Benchmade jacked up the prices of both full ($171) and mini Presidio II ($153). They are still OK value but I'm not sure if I'll continue to call them underrated. As a comparison, Hogue Ritter full size with better steel in 20cv and better (?) handle material in G10 is just $9 more than the full size Presidio though a bit smaller/shorter.

I wholeheartedly agree about the Ritter RSK. That is by far the best bang for buck I have come across in a long time. I would still consider the Presidio underrated just because it gets very little love when people recommend a knife. The overall design is great. Decent materials and still, even after the hike in price, financially reasonable. To be fair even the Bugout, which gets crazy love, is hitting close to $150.

I say Presido or the smaller Presidio ii over the Deka. But Ritter RSK and the smaller Ritter over them both.

Thanks for your answer. Nom I want the Mini Ritter Hogue. Shit.
What do you think will the Mini Hogue be better than my Para 3? I mean the action. I have a custom G10 contured scales on it and an Mxggear deep carry clip.

The main differences would be thumbstu/thumbhole, S45VN/20CV, compression/bar lock. The Mini Griptilian was too small for me (thumbstud version). The closing action was uncomfortable.

I like the Deka, but I like the mini Presidio more.. but since the RSK has gotten thrown into the mix I will say that I think the Ritter is the better value..

Although having said that you can see what just happens to be in my pocket today 😁

You said you liked the Presidio more than the Deka. Is it an overall like? Which has better action? I mean the position of thiubstud, (I think there is on the wrong place on the Bugout), how fast the blade opens? The closing action is fall shut or you have to swing it?

I mean,.. I think the ergo's on both are fine, for me anyway, and I wear an xl Mechanix glove. The action is subjective, both of mine are fall shut with the axis lock disengaged, but that can be adjusted by the end user..

But I feel like, although they are similarly sized overall, they are slightly different in their use for me. The Prisidio is a bit chunkier than the Deka, and has a more solid feel. While the Deka has that slim feel both in hand and in pocket, and is also slicier that the BM..

So.. cutting rope and zip ties all day gimme the BM. For cutting packages and slicing apples, I'll take the Deka.
