not to sure where to put this in the forums, so i guess the gallery is appropriate... this is in progress, and still needs quite a bit of work, this is only the second step, the first being the dissasembly of the folder and the grinding down of the tang and serrations to make a 2 finger grip.
why do this to an 80$ folder you ask? 1 - i didnt know it was 80$ at the time, and 2 - it was the poorest quality mid range folder i have yet to lay hands on. extremely weak lock up (could close with my bare hands, without much effort), blade was way off center, lots of lateral play, round serrations, and im not a fan of the afck style handle's to begin with.
sans folder set up though it makes for a great paper cutter/general desk utility knife
handle slabs are corian, held on by 2 ton epoxy.
the next stage of the mod will be to even out the front section of the slabs, and grind a deep shoulder corner into them to fit a darker corian bolster. same thing for the pommel, wich will have the corean squared off and 2 slabs of darker corian will be fixxed to make a solid extended handle section to accomodate a small 4 finger grip.
after that i might put a brass pin in where the opening hole was, and i will polish the handles and put a dremmel sanding drum striped textured, wich will be polished.
more pics to come as it progresses
