Hello BF!

I am just wondering if I made a good or bad decision. I picked up a Benchmade Model 10 in pretty decent shape (will try to post photos later). I can't find out a whole lot about them other than they were made some time ago. It was done on impulse, and now I kind of regret it as I can't even carry it because it is illegal to carry in California. OK to own, just not to carry. Strange laws right? Was this a good find to keep as a collector knife?

As a collector knife, not really. If it was a prototype or some such, then yes. How much did you pay for it?

That's a not bad price if you approach the right market. I know of several Zamack handled Benchmade balisongs that sold recently for more in worse condition. I paid double that 10 years ago for one like yours, and just had the sheath. That's a little gem you got, definitely a keeper. Collector value is there if you have the box, sheath, paperwork, and minimal blade play/damage/latch hits. If you don't have those, consider finding them or asking Benchmade if they have any left. I'd be interested if Benchmade can still service those. Those little ones are fun and that one has one of the nicest balance. Should latch drop like a beast if it's just a user. Good luck and don't lose it.

Benchmade's really limited to cleaning and sharpening older Bali's like yours. Spare parts might well be impossible. Nice find!
