While I understand your excitment to see such a desirable knife up for auction and I appreciate your desire to share your find with your friends here, I have asked folks not to announce auctions (even those they're not participating in) here. The reason for this is that at any given time there are literally hundreds of balisongs available on the various auctions. If they all got announced here, the valuable information content of this forum would be very diluted. I'd like to keep the signal to noise ratio here as high as possible.
Anyone looking to buy a balisong from an auction can watch the auctions for themselves.
Now, if you want to discuss the merits of an ongoing auction, that's great.
I'm got an attempt to address this issue right now. I'll test it out a bit and post something this weekend. I've created a majordomo mailing list on my domain (Yes, I'm tackling majordomo!) just for such announcements.
For those of you who don't know majordomo, it's a server that creates an e-mail list. If you want to receive such announcments, you'll send e-mail to an e-mail address that I'll post (I'll give you all the instructions), and you'll be subscribed to the list. If you see a balisong in an auction, for sale forum, catalog, etc., that you want to make people aware of, you'll e-mail it to another address that I'll also tell you about. The sever will forward your e-mail to everyone on the list. If you subsequently decide that you don't want these announcments anymore, you can unsubscribe by just sending another e-mail to that first address (again, complete instructions will be provided). This will keep the auction announcement traffic out of the forum.
Any comments???? Good idea??? Bad idea???
