Can anyone tell me what Benchmade model this is and what the blue book market value is?
I checked some of the recommended web sites, but have not been able to find this model. it is about 4 1/2 closed with a 3 1/4 inch utility blade.

Right off hand it looks like a PC mdl 10, but the blade looks really wierd, almost computer generated. I am sure Chuck will know what it is, along with the price.

is the blade marked on one side with the bali-song logo, and the other "made in usa"?

whats on the opposing side of the butterfly? Patent numbers? .numbers should read "4,364,174"with "made in usa under them. If so its what cameron said a PC model 10. HOpe I was Helpful.

The side showing on the pic has the butterfly with bali-song within. The opposite side is marked "BENCHMADE" with U.S.A. below. I think I bought the knife just as benchmade stopped making the balisongs...5-6 years ago, but I cant remember the model#.

thanks all.

This knife looks very much alike 2sharp's BM-30 (it was a BM-30, right?). I have no idea as to how much it could be worth.

Cheers,

Per

Did BM ever make a 10? The blade looks like a utility so it probably isn't a 30 (which has a weehawk).

Also, when PC made the mdl 44, it did have exposed pins, correct?

I thought the 44 was produced by Benchmade!

We are speaking of a 4"+ tanto bladed balisong with the itty-bitty butterfly on one side of the blade? Aren't we?

Sabo

P.S. my 44 has ground pins.

Yes, PC did make a mdl 44, so did BM. I have a pic of a PC mdl 44 w/ exposed pins (along with a mdl 41 and 43) which is in "The Advanced Balisong Manual" on page 115. The mdls 41 and 44 were apparently discontinued in late '86 after about 8 months of production. It does have a 4" tanto blade BTW.

That looks/sounds like a Benchmade BM10. If it was a Pacific Cutlery model 10, it would have the patent number on the opposite side of the blade from the balisong logo. The 44 had exposed pins when PC made them in '86-87. They also made a 4 inch weehawk(43) and a 4 inch utility(41) with exposed pins at that time. The BM44 had a heavier blade and unexposed pins. I'm not sure why they used the same number for the tantos and changed the weehawks(43 and 45). Although, the swedge is rather different on each of those models.

Sounds good. The 43 has a TOTALLY different swedge than the 45 (very small) and still pretty different than the 42.
