What's the difference between the normal Nimravus with ATS-34 and the version with the "high speed tool steel"? Why is the latter more expensive and is it better, why?

It all depends on what your standards are.
The high speed tool steel is made out of stronger metal therefor holds a better edge, but is also harder to sharpen when it does get dull.
I think the Tool Steel would be good to buy because it is stronger but you have to take better care of it than you do Ats steel because the High Speed steel has a tendency to rust more than ATS.

I recomend tuff-cloth if anything.

hope I could help

The M2 steel version is ALOT stronger, but harder to sharpen, but the good news is that it stays sharper WAYYYY longer than ATS-34. If you want an M2 Nimravus (they're kinda hard to find right now) I've got one, and it's yours for $130 + shipping. Drop me an Email if you want it.

I would have to disagree with the people that are saying it is hard to sharpen. IMO, it is easier to sharpen than ATS-34. It is a b---- getting the edge thinned out, but not especially harder than an ATS-34 (I have done both). It will keep its edge longer at the thinner angle. About the only thing not going for it is its lack of stain resistance. And, for the most part, that being bad or good is a matter of opinion.

So, if you are going to be spending a lot of time in a very wet environment, ATS-34 may be better. If you aren't, I think M2 is much better.

I like the edge holding of M2 also, but if you get a ATS34 Nimravus, you can do this to it!

Hey how did you do that? It looks pretty sweet.

I have the Nimravus Cub in ATS-34 and have had no trouble with it, although I have not used it much. The one complaint I do have is the sheath. I broke mine after wearing it a few times. I am thinking of getting one made by BladeTech. Anyone else have any suggestions on sheaths?

Also Chiro75 does good work. Don't know his e-mail, but you should be able to find it pretty quickly around here.....
