For awhile now I've been very intrigued with the nitrous stryker. However, after reading a little bit in the BM forums, it seems people have been having some problems with them.

I've also considered getting a griptilian for some time. Anybody have any bad experiences with the nitrous stryker?
Your thoughts on which knife I should get?

Thanks guys!

i have both, ive never had any problems with the nitrous stryker, its wicked fast too. the only downside is im not a big fan of liner locks. i personally prefer the griptilian tho, its fast lightweight and i love the axis lock, you cant go wrong with either. good luck with your decision :)

I.....hate.....you.... Something tells me I'm gonna be buying both...:p

I have had both the Nitrous Stryker and still have the Grip. The Nitrous is a nice knife, liked the blade but just did not care for the assisted opening. You can't go wrong with any of the Grips.

My vote goes to the Grip. Opens just as fast as any AO, closes faster and is way more fun. Pretty reliable lock as far as I've been able to read on these forums. I personally have never had a lock problem with any of my knives though.

I have them both also. I removed the torsion assist bar from the Stryker,
it opens just as fast with just a little practise, suprisingly.

The Stryker is the better knife, though I wish it was an axis lock.

I do not like the fat plastic cheap feel of the Griptilian handles, they
are a bit on the thick side and get tiring and bulky to hold and carry
after a while. Good utility knife for the price though.

part of the reason i want the grip. i had a kershaw leek G10 liner lock fail on me the other day, sent it back today. ive never heard a single bad thing about the axis, would really like to get my first

I like both for their own reasons. I love the Axis mechanism but don't like the plasticky feel of Grips - I loved the original 910 Stryker series, and the boosted Nitrous mechanism gives Benchmade a solid working A/O platform - I have both and for the record give my vote to the G-10 Nitrous based Stryker series.

I have owned at least six Grips and sold or traded them away - I have yet to do that with my 913 or 907 knives.

What to do? Get BOTH. Better yet? TRY both so you can decide for yourself.

I have several Grips and minis and have never had a problem with any of them. I held a Stryker and played with it a while, trying to talk myself into buying it. Didn't work.

I don't like AOs or autos, first of all. In my slanted mind, simple = strong and dependable; more parts = more places for something to fail just at the wrong time. Even overlooking that, though, the Stryker just felt bad to me. It reminded me of a larger BM 530 and I have no use for that kind of knife. They're too flat, too light, too thin. If I'm gonna carry a knife, I want to know it's there and I want to know when I have it in my hand.

i bought my nitrous stryker primarily because it was a first production run(207/1000) and fell in love with it the more i played with it. its wicked cool and super fast. unfortunately i dont carry it that often, the AO, black tanto blade, and serrations make it unfriendly knife to sheeple :(
i have EDC'd my grip, 551BKODD2, for about 6 months now and it does every job i ask, including entertaining me while the Denver Broncos lose every weekend!
