I'm posting this to see if anyone here has any helpful ideas. I recently received a handful of new knives among them the Nitrous Stryker. Initially the Stryker would not open so I adjusted the pivot screw so that it now opens with a passably forceful nudge.

Here's the thing, when the pivot is very tight (and I cannot open the knife) the blade is centered. When the pivot has been adjusted to allow opening the blade is at an extreme angle and even scrapes the liner. There does not appear to be any middle ground here.

I order knives from Canada and ship to the US so returns are not easy for me. Any ideas?

I had the same problems with mine....i sold it. I couldn't stand the fact, like you mentioned, that there was no middle ground.

I've seen some people on here give the advice to put in some thread lock when you find the "happy medium", but i never wanted to have to do that to a benchmade.

I've found with a few of my knives that have liner locks, they tend to favor the side opposite theliner lock (as does my Nitrous Stryker) I think it's because there is a small nub (bump to reduce drag) on the inside face of the liner lock. I've found sometimes if you tighten the bottom torx screws it will help pull the blade away from the side a-bit. I tighten the pivot screw just enough so that the blade will not fall by gravity, but will move without any resistance if pushed by hand.
I don't have any blade play, it opens quickly and locks up tight. It does however favor the opposite side of the liner lock.

Hope this helps

Thank-you, I tried to follow your advice and appreciate the input but it didn't solve the Stryker issues. Now I can barely get the thing to open.

This is my 3rd Benchmade but likely my last. Despite the fantastic reputation they seem to enjoy on-line their fit and finish is questionable (I had to pick through multiple copies to get a centered Barrage). For the premium prices they are asking I find this piss poor level of quality control unacceptable.

Even though you purchased it through Canada, I think if you sent it to Benchmade they would correct the problem. No questions asked. My experience with them warrants this. Turnaround time is another story.
