I have the bm 975sbt, and absolutely love it. It holds a good edge and feels good in your hand. It is my every day carry and seems to meet all my needs without problems. As for the AFCK, I do not have any experience with it.
on a more serious note, i'd go for the afck. M2 is an excellent steel and the blade has a great shape, so does the handle. the 975 is a good knife, but for general utility, the afck would serve you fine. the afck is also more readily available and just might be cheaper too. \
you might hear suggestions of an axis or pinnacle as well. both of those would also be great choices.
What is the 975 blade shape mainly used for? Self Defense? Also it appears that the 975 is only sharpened on one side is this the case? Does it need to be sharpened any certain way?
I have them both and I would say get the AFCK in M2 steel. The blade shape of the AFCK is far better for utility duities. Yes the 975 is only sharpened on one side. It is more difficult to resharpen than the AFCK. The M2 steel will take a super sharp edge and hold it for a real long time. Hope this helps.
Although I collect Microtechs, the knife I just can't get out of my pocket is an M2 AFCK. Takes the most wicked sharp edge of anything I own and holds it a long time. Excellent blade shape for any cutting task. Go plain edge on whatever you buy. Serrations are too hard to sharpen.
