I just got a mini AFCK in M2 off fleabay, after looking for one for years. Yay! However, the thing has those crappy old nylotron washers instead of the bronze ones BM used on later (oval-hole) models. MUCH stiffer, no comparison, a real drag. So, has anyone here ever gotten a replacement set of bronze washers from BM? I would email them but it's a holiday weekend & I figure one of y'all knife-knuts has done this before . . .
thanks - FF

I have some knives with the old washers in that are smooth as silk. I have some bronze ones that are stiff as hell.

As timmy mentioned, BM can probably replace them for you. Give them a call and make sure they still have washers to fit that model. If they do, you're set. :) You'll probably have to send it in for it to be done though. They rarely send out parts such as washers, especiallly since you're in the states.

thanks for the info guys! Hmm, both of the BT2 coated minis I've owned have been stiff, whereas the uncoated blade I had was super-smooth, I wonder if that's the issue?

FWIW, after removing the BT2 blade coating I have determined that the somewhat gritty opening on mine is due to
(1) the ball detent being worn flat by the much harder M2 steel of the blade (2) the surfaces of the pivot pin and the blade hole for the pivot pin are both a little bit rough where they contact
(3) I think a tiny bit is due to the nylotron washers, I can tell when comparing them to the phospher bronze washers on my 806D2.
Plenty of puttering ahead . . .
