BM Rift LE Carbon Fiber feedback

Although it's more or less sold out by now I was wondering what those of you who bought one of the Carbon Fiber handled Rifts thought of it vs the standard model?
It looks like they're identical except for the CF scales (same 154cm blade). From a collector standpoint there's no question I guess but from an EDC standpoint do the CF scales make it worth the extra loot if I can track one down?

I handled one briefly and the CF seems to be a bit more hand friendly and less edgy than the stock model but that was from a minute or two hands on time.

Comments?

Personally, I love my CF Rift.

The edges are honestly not that much better than the G10, still a little sharp for my liking. The look of the CF scales really make the knife IMHO.

If you are looking to EDC, I would look to pick a normal G10 Rift from the For Sale section.

Otherwise, I would go for the CF one. I believe they might still have some on Knifeworks

Whatever you choose, the Rift is a great knife, and my favorite BM. You'll love it.

You'll be hearing from FlaMtnBkr soon :)

When I tried the Rift it seemed built for bigger hands than mine. I liked the thinly ground blade and the lock, but the bump near the back got in the way.

I also wish it had a fifty-fifty finger choil. For me it is a must-have for a larger knife.

Here is the link to Plaza Cutlery which still has some left in stock.

I bought one of these and the CPM-M4 LE and did a blade swap...I like the CF. I think you're probably right about the CF being a little less sharp-edged. I never quite understood the logic of the CF scales with the regular blade, but YMMV. The Rift in any of its varieties is a great knife.

wong is right! FlaMtnBkr is the spokesman for the BM Rift.:D I have the auto axis version with the regular G-10 scales and absolutely love it! It rides flat and light, yet will do the bigger jobs I might use it to do.

Accurate assesment.
I've got one with the Black and Charcoal G10 Scales, and one with CF...the CF is more hand friendly (to me), but the G10 never bothered me that much.

I got my CF from KW at not much more than the G10 model, and at that price it was well worth it. It looks like those are gone now, al least I don't find them on the web site.
The original "exclusive" dealer still has them listed, though at the higher price...silll not a bad deal if you want it as a collectible.

+++ on the Rift. The carbon fiber handle is a bonus and makes the knife more collectible. But what sold me to the Rift is the wicked blade. Reverse tanto and the low belly makes an excellent blade. Great knife for EDC and heck of a slicer too. Needless to mention the BM Axis lock. Don't hesitate to buy one you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for all the input. The Rift (in any version) has been on my short list for awhile now.
The CF scales are a winner no doubt about but I'm trying hard not to buy just as a collectible and for close to a 100 bucks more I hesitate....just slightly.. since it's still cheaper than a lot of other blades out there.
After all, your hand deserves the best, right ? ;)

I have the CF version and really like it. It's my first CF scaled knife. I have other Benchmades in G10 so although I've not personally handled a G10 Rift, I can extrapolate what it would be like. The CF feels good in the hand, very hard - almost as if it were made of stone. I felt that it was worth the extra money, but you can't go wrong with the G10 version either. The overall size, the blade shape, the blade finish, the Axis lock all make it a winner, and you get all that with either version. Here's a photo I've posted before, comparing it to my large regular Sebenza:

My 950-801 is a safe queen, and I have three other Rifts as well. The CF is very smooth and comfortable in hand, but I don't have a problem with the other models. All are very nice.
