anyone have any experience with a benchmade sequel. love the looks and axis lock, but have read some bad reviews on their 154cm

What have you read bad about it? I have one and it is great: seems reliable, sturdy for its size, sharp blade.

heard the heat treating was poor, with blade chipping. I have a tops pasayten in 154 and have only good things to say about the steel. don't plan on much abuse to a folder, just lookin to upgrade a bit form my mini-grip(440c)

Ive been a benchmade owner/user/fan for a long time. I have knives in their 154cm, ats-34, and s30v. Ive never had any of them chip on me ever.

This is also honestly the first time ive heard anything like that about 154cm. No, its not the best steel ever but its a good one and by my experience and what i have read and heard its fairly popular.

If you are worried about the 154cm blade there are some limited editions of the:
707-701 with an s30v blade and a CF insert.
707-702 s30v and wood insert
707d2-600 d2 blade with wood insert

LOL!:D

They are really well designed knives.
If you've never had a Benchmade Axis, get one.
You won't be sorry.

Isn't the BM Sequel what you get after bad tacos?
Yep.

But, the 707 is a great knife. I have one of the D2 models and love it. If you have doubts about the 154CM, I believe some of the "limiteds" are still around. The model I have is from Sportsman's Wearhouse and is D2 with a green handle.

If you want to upgrade your mini griptilian, one option you have is to get another griptilian. They can be had with 154CM or D2 or S30V.

There was a post on here recently that bad mouthed Benchmade's 154cm. Just remember that on the internet one person's bad experience gets multiplied. I have never chipped the 154cm on any of my Benchmade's for over a years worth of use each blade. Buy with confidence.

I have never had a problem with BM's 154CM. I dont' have any expereince with the 707 other than playing around with one at the store, but it seems like a great little knife. I woulndn't let internet roomers of bad heat treat discourage you from buying one.

And even if it did have a bad heat treat for some reason, send it back to BM and if it is a legitamate complaint, they'll replace it. There customer service is widely known to be great.

I have several Benchmade folders in 154CM and have never had a problem with them. No chips. Keeps an edge well. Relatively easy to sharpen.

hell, it's all i ever carried ( 707 ) until i bought my small sebenza.
i do miss my 707 though, just something about it.

thanks guys! never had a problem with a bm either(even the red class), gonna mail order one tonight
