BM Skirmish pocket clips..........

recently got a BM Skirmish, really like the thing, well made/finished, good steel in the blade, ti handles, whats not to like? well for me the pocket clip looks cheesy, and cheap, really a low point on a top notch knife, i mean it seems to work fine but i would rather have the std BM clip vs the long thin thing thats on it it seems to me it would bend easily, and just looks cheap to me - kind of like the pocket clip on the cammalus maxx, at least darrel makes a better looking one to replace it, anybody make a replacement for the skirmish yet?? i would almost rather have the std BM clip, would like to have it drilled for tip up w/a BM std clip, would really improve it imho.........

did they design the clip to look like one of blackwoods customs? again am sure it probably works fine other than it seems like it would bend easy, but still i think they coulda done better.........

other than that its a great knife imho, one of the best BM's i have seen.
 
I would have loved to have seen a foldover clip used....sorta like the one on the new 420. I agree with you SIFU on the cheesy looking clip on the MAXX. That's why I replace them with the D Ralph designed foldover clip from Knifekits.com.
 
It is easy enough to replace the clip. I have already done this to one. The problem is making a filler for the milled out space from the original clip. That isn't that difficult to do, if you have the right material.
 
i have a foldover clip from darrel on my maxx, will have to see how it loooks and maybe get the 630 drilled for it and tip up carry.

have never handled a blackwood custom but i bet his stuff has a better clip than this, if it is an accurate rendition i suggest he try some of the emerson scull clips, they are 10X better imho, as it is i'm mildly annoyed that after all the effort BM put into fit/finish/material, all the effort to produce one of the better tactical folders aound, they chince out and save $3 on the clip, if i had just bought a $500+ custom with this clip i would be very very dissapointed, all of my customs (ie emerson, pat crawford, darrel ralph, chris reeves) have better FWIW.
 
Blackwood designed the clip and spent a lot of time looking for the perfect length and width
 
I must be the only one out here that actually likes the clip the way it is. ;)
The only thing would be deeper carry to make it perfect. For looks and function, I like it the way it is.

then he's a great knife designer and a poor designer of pocketclips imho. again, neither as utilitarian or as nice looking as the emerson scull clips, or the ralph foldovers.
 
Hell, I hadn't noticed the clip on mine bein' cheesy lookin'. I thought it was just fine. Although the idea of filling in the original hole and having it tapped for different carry positions appeals quite strongly to me.

Good thing we have so many options available, eh?
