After many, many years I finally scored one of my grails!

What a fantastic knife!

Great score! ;)

It’s one of those knives that you wish you picked up more of before being DQ’ed...

I only have one and she was a user, I’ll post some pic’s when I get a chance.

At the time, I was thinking:
- "I'm addicted to opiates and need money."
The buyer was in Russia, so I thought:
- "Wow, Russia! That's kind of cool -- probably not too many Skirmishes there!"

...and now... I just want my Skirmish back. :(

One of BM's all time greats no doubt...

Congratulation! If you don't mind where did you buy it, was it new, how much?

Recently I was looking to buy new EDC, and discovered this model, unfortunately it has been discontinued!

I wanted to buy new black SE version BUT it's nearly impossible to find one or price on it is TOO HIGH!!!!!:grumpy:

I had to settle for ZT0200 instead they are very similar!

Can you do a little review on using this knife? Ergonomics, deployment, ease of use?

I personally prefer Axis lock or linear lock, I have my doubts about frame locks when it comes to rapid deployment and firm grip on knife!

I'll admit I've never had an opportunity to handle frame locks yet!

What's your experience in handling and deploying frame locks under stress?

I purchased this knife NIB from a private collector. We have a mutual friend who knew I was looking for a Skirmish and connected us and we made a deal.

As far as a review, the Skirmish as been around a long, long time and there's a mountain of info on it if you look around. My first impressions are, it ranks way up there on all levels that are important to me. I personally think it ranks in the top three Benchmades ever made. Along with the AFCK and Rukus.

The one I have is cosmetically and functionally perfect. I think the ergo's are great but that's just my opinion. keep in mind this one's a safe queen I bought to collect and have no intention of using. These are getting harder and harder to find so I plan to just hold on to and cherish it for now.

As far as getting one, they come up here on the exchange from time to time and on the bay. But as you said they are expensive because they are long discontinued and highly sought after but if you keep at it you might find one that's more affordable but either way they aren't cheap.

When it comes to frame locks in general, I think a well made Frame lock is as good as any but I don't think you can beat the AXIS lock as far as ease of use, reliability, and longevity. That said I still like a good Frame lock and have a dozen or so from various manufactures and like them all very much. None have ever failed me during use.

Hope this answers some of your questions and helps. Have a look around, there's a ton of info here on BFC on Frame as well as other locks. By the way, I like the ZT 0200 very much. Some of my favorite Frame lock knives are the ZT 0300,0561 and the ZT 0452CF. I also really like my Sebenza and Umnamzaan. The BM 761 however would be my current favorite, currently in production Frame lock. Like I said, I prefer the AXIS but there's just something about a well done Frame lock that never gets old for me.

Bottom line, Look around and see what you like. You really can't go wrong if you buy a quality Frame lock from one of the better manufactures.

Hope this helps and all the best!

Thanks!

This one took years to finally get and was definitely worth the wait! Couldn't be happier with it...

What a beauty!
This is definitely one I would love to see as a limited release. Maybe even an axis version?
Anyways, congrats on ANOTHER amazing score Paul!

Beautiful knife. Congratulations.
I have the Mini Skirmish which is one of my favorites by Benchmade. I agree with your that the Skirmish, Rukus , and AFCK might be the most stylish knives Benchmade has ever produced.

That is a beauty. I rank the Skirmish up with the Rukus as my favorite Benchmades. Both the Rukus and Skirmish have big blades that open fast and silky smooth.

For the Skirmish, I like to use the Spyderco flip -- Because this knife is tip up, you can put your thumb and index finger in the large hole and give the knife a slight flip. It will open fast and easy, with the handle falling back into your palm.

The other good thing about both of these knives is that the S30V is excellent. None of mine have chipped. They take a super fine edge and hold a good working edge for a long time.
