New Forum User here and I swear on my collection of keeper knives I already tried the search button for this...

So... I recently acquired a Benchmade Auto Stryker and I like this knife a lot. So much so, that I have have decided to replace my other EDC autos, a Boker and gerber covert, with it.

However, I wish it had a snappier open action. Having replaced and upgraded springs in the past I thought I would do the same here. The issue though is the BM’s spring is a 12 and 9 placement while every other knife I have modded uses a 12 and 3 placement. It’s also .375 coil spring I think.

I have tried, without success, to mod 12 and 3 springs to the 12 and 9. Anyone know where to find springs that will work with the BM.

This is an old post but I'm sure there are others looking for a solution. I just figured it out. Drill a hole approximately 160 degrees clockwise from the existing hole. If you're looking at the blade from the mounted and open position where the existing hole is about a 6:15 position (not quite 6 but not 6:30, you'll want a new hole around the 11:15 position. 1/16 carbide bit, no other material will do, not even cobalt. Then you get a Maxx torque 0.375" spring from knifekits and boom, you're good and can always service your knife with a readily available off the rack spring.

I flush mine out with water, WD40 and then Triflow, opening and closing it several times. It's what BM used to recommend to clean and revive the Stryker when I bought mine many years ago.
