Planning on getting my first AO folder. I kind of like the design on Benchmade Torrent and Nitrous Stryker (913D2) (link goes to Gold Class but I mean the old Black Class). What´s the big difference between these knife and wich one is best (strongest, more durable, funniest)? The steel will not be an issue. Cheers

Had both, liked both, no longer own any AO's...

The Torrent seemed more refined/dressier in my opinion whereas the Stryker had a much more 'tactical' look. Both utilize the Nitrous assisted mechanism, so basically the same in that respect. Deep pocket carry on the Torrent is usually love or hate; I thought it was a nice touch for that knife. Torrent has rounded G10 and the Stryker has a flat profile and thin G10.

As for durable; very similar. I believe the Stryker has thicker blade stock. Get both.

Comparison picture - although mine was the tanto variant:

I would check out the Nitrous Stryker's AO system. I wasn't familiar with it when I got it. Since the backstrap is essentially the spring, when it is open there is no support for the scales. That just bugs me. It might be no big deal for you though. I would try to see one in person first to see if you can live with it. It is a good knife but my irrational fear that I am going to crack or break the G10 prevents me from EDCing it.

I've had my Nitrous Stryker for over 2 years now, and it has performed flawlessly.
The only hit I can give it, is the really bad ergonomics. The sharp edges all around just dig into your hand, making it impossible to do heavy duty, or prolonged cutting tasks.

I didn't like the 890 Torrent at all. It looked nice but felt cheap. In fact they're giving them away right now as of a week or 2 ago when I checked prices.

I returned mine to the store (online) and swapped it up with a little cash to a 940 Osborne which I love.

If we're sticking with AO's, I prefer the 913 over the 890. But then I've got a soft spot for Strykers and like the Nitrous mechanics on this model combined with the great blade and light weight due to the Ti liners.
