Maybe I missed something here- but I was thinking- isn't it kind of strange that Benchmade tells you not to disassemble your knife or you'll void the warranty, yet they are now providing the tools to do it with?

Was there some change of heart at Benchmade, or do they still discourage customers from dissecting their knives? If they still have the same policy, what are the Torx bits supposed to be for?

Hmmm...

i think they're sending an unclear message as well. I believe that the Torx kits are to tighten loose screws and adjust the pivot tension, things they never discouraged. But most people will take it as a license to disassmeble.

Actually, they send a disclaimer with the kit that states that it should be used for pivot adjustments and tightening of screws. It goes on to say that taking the knife apart will still result in voiding the warranty.

so they are available now? last time i checked they weren't out yet, that was about a month ago though.

F.Y.I. I have seen the torx kits at both knifecenter.com and nwcutlery.com. They cost about $15 each. Hope this helps.
