I talked to a source within BM the other day and got a bit of information about the backorder que on the Model 42 variants.
At one point, BM had worked the backorder down to just a few hundred pieces. But, there's been a recent surge of orders. Many dealers are reordering much faster than expected and many are calling to double and even tripple existing orders. Right now, BM is backordered about 3000 pieces.
When BM introduced the 42, they expected strong initial interest and a strong initial surge of orders. But, they expected that to drop off quickly. The intial surge of orders they got was well above their expectations and it just hasn't dropped off.
While this does make it difficult to get a 42, the nice thing about this is that it will encourage BM to consider expanding this product line.
