I just got my BM42A this morning and it was as expected except for the fact that the latch srew is not all the way in and the latch is small enough to allow sufficient wobbling. I don't want to go through all the trouble of sending it to BM but I'm not sure I could put enough pressure myself to screw it in. I hear they use high pressure screws. I was thinking my best bet would be to get one of those torx srew kits.

They are pressure fit to a certain degree, then they are screwed in with the torx pins. You can tighten the pins down and it won't kill you or your hand.

just a little tip- dont spend your time and money on the BM torx kit; go over to wal-mart or some kind of department store. Go to the hardware section- they'll probably have a multi-bit screwdriver thing much like what BM puts out. This'll save you money and the time waiting. (not to say the BM kit isn't good, it is, but this is just easier).

the size of the bit you're looking for is size 6

Hey, how's it going?

The latch pin is not as pressure fit as the handle pins, trust me -- it can even be removed!!! I don't know exactly what your describing your problem as, but I thin kit can easily be fixed (by your self). Also I thin the BM kit is great, and worth the $10. I also think that you will have a hell of a hard time finding the smaller Torx #'s. Like 6, 7 maybe hard, but 8/9 are a bit easier.

Good luck -- let me know if I can help you out,

No kidding Darth. I ordered my BM42 from Cutlery Shoppe in December and the free Torx Kit didn't arrive until last week. They're bloody harder to get than the knife.

Why so small! I have checked every hardware store in town, as well as Sears and NH Northern (or whatever the are calling themselves this week). Craftsman does not even make them that small! Small as I could find is #9, and that was rare. Just have to order from that place I got my knife! BTW, I didn't even bother to check Wall-Mart, has anybody found them there?

Am I the only one here who's had a bad experience with the BM torx heads? The first time I used one, the end almost sheared off. Maybe I just got a bad apple, but I think the BM torx head cannot take much torsion. BTW... I think my local cutlery shop has a bunch of the blue boxes... so if anybody is having trouble finding it, lemme know.

Craftsman does make one because I'm looking at one right now. It's a skinny screwdriver style but I have sizes 6-10 and I'm pretty sure they make em smaller than that.

Well I'm probably going to try to find a kit around here otherwise I may just order a BM kit. Whats up Matrix.
