Is it just me or has anyone else noticed a difference in the machining quality of the 42 and the 43 & 47?

The kicks on all the 43/47 .jpgs I've seen are much closer to square than my 42.

hmm... personally i think the 47 looks better in black than the 43. the tanto is kind of sinister, so it fits nicely with the black coated handles. the clip point is more traditional & i think it looks better with the plain titanium handles.
nice to have options, though.
peace.

yeah, different blade styles, blade materials, and I think the blades would look funny if the edge has shorter (the edge is longer on the 43 and 47 than the 42 even though they all have the same blade lenght). The 42 seems to have a huge ricasso now that I flip the 43, strange. Oh, BTW, nice pic Chuck, is that foil as the background?

Yes, that is foil. This is part of my continuing themes of pictures that can not be taken in a light tent and pictures incorporating highly reflective elements besides the knives.

I also wanted to really play up the black/silver contrast in these knives and thought that this was a really creative way to do it.

That is a nice contrast between black and silver with the foil having reflections.

How is the black coat on the grip and flip?

I like the picture with the 3 Bali-Songs a lot more, looks like I have a new wallpaper. I also would like to know how they feel and flip. Thanks

They feel great. There is a noticible difference in the grip between a plain handle and the BLK handles. They flip the same except you might not drop them as much since they provide more friction. The texture isn't abrasive and not really rough. It's like an orange peel finish.

The one thing I really noticed is the reduction in noise. The coating also seems to silence the clangs a bit since every contact point is coated with it. This makes it semi-silent and easier to flip at 2 or 3 in the morning without waking up your partner.

I really prefer the coating now that I've felt it, heck, it's what sold me on the my 47 since I really wasn't fond of the blade profile. I picked it up and knew instantly I had to have it.

Just go read the review I did a few days ago. It goes through the basics.

I am also very impressed with the coating on the handles. I was a little skeptical at first, because I was afraid of them being to rough and also afraid that the coating may have filled in some of the smaller holes between the larger skeleton holes. I have to say I was VERY wrong. The finish is flawless. It has a very nice texture and is coated VERY evenly over the handles. I am extremely happy with the job BM did with these.
