bm530

Trying to meet a certain price point, I'd imagine. I'd rather see 440C than AUS8, 440A, 420J and the like. If the knife ends up being popular don't be surprized if they upgrade the steel or do a limited run with D2 or S30V to satisfy customer interest.

St. James is right, but 440C isn't too bad either, it sharpens easy and takes a razor edge.

Many very fine blades have been crafted from 440C. When properly heat treated, it will stand up with most of the best. There is a huge tendency to "hype-up" the latest "gee-whiz-bang" steel.

The key is the heat treatment.;)
