BM690 - little bit stiff though?

So, I got my 690 a while ago (kudos to Greg/Skylandscutlery).

It is very nice, light (though strudy), sharp - and almost everything.

Only drawback is, I find it a little bit stiff to open. Yes, I can get it open by one hand, but compared to Ares...

Any tips to light the opening it a little bit?

Is couple drops of oil a good idea?

I wonder if the blade tension can be changed - the pin seems to be mosaic or something like that...

Yes... a little drop of oil will work. Just drip it in the pivot area. Also... if you had the appropriate torx wrench (Benchmade sells a set), you can loosen the pivot screw. If you do that, you can set the tension to your liking and flick the blade open with ease till your hearts content.

I think just a little drop of oil in the pivot area will work.
You may not need to adjust the blade tension.
I'm using the same one.

Thank you for the info given.

One point with 690 is that it is so nice that I don't dare to use it as I use my other utility knives.

I'm not afraid it getting broken, but regulary a utlity blade gets hard life with me.

The scales and bolsters - not to forget the blade (BC coated) - look so neat to me, that I'm afraid scratching them.

So I keep it mostly in drawer and use only for light tasks.

Maybe this is misuse for a great knife, but can't help myself...
