I've got a 710 ordered. Is this knife as good as I hope it to be? I really want to use it for an EDC, and hard use knife. I would love to hear from the guys owning some of them. Thanks guys

The Benchmade 710 is a great knife! I have the D2 version and am very impressed with this knife and steel. Mine is at Benchmade now getting the solid backspacer replaced with barrel standoffs.

Good choice!

The 710 is a great knife on many levels. Had mine for some time now and always been very happy with it.

Now much do they charge for this? I would much rather have an "open back" on my 710.

I own multiples of this knife and it's my favorite model. If collecting even a small group of Benchmades this is the one to have.

All Benchmade asks is that you pay to have it shipped to them. They will cover the return shipping parts and labor.

One more reason to love Benchmade!

I just copied this from their website.

LifeSharp Service

There's never a dull moment with a Benchmade... That's right! We will gladly re-sharpen your Benchmade knife to a factory razor sharp edge (service does not apply to any serrated portion of the blade). If you prefer us to sharpen your blade, or if you may have neglected to maintain your edge for a while, simply ship your knife to us. We'll not only sharpen it, but we will also inspect the knife for any warranted repairs and "tune" the knife for optimum performance. Simply ship the knife to the Benchmade address, postage paid and insured. Please enclose your return shipping address with $5.00 for first knife and $2.50 for each additional knife, to cover handling and return shipping charges.

Thats weird that they charge for return shipping when sharpening, but they dont charge when asking for barrell spacers installed

I have found that it varies case by case and maybe by employee. Basically, sometimes they ask to cover shipping, sometimes they don't.

So I just add a note requesting the spacers and I'm good?

Maybe and maybe not. I sent my 710 off on July 2nd with another knife for repairs. My blade was impacting the back spacer. Requested to have the back spacer replaced with barrel spacers if possible. Just got it back yesterday. They replaced the blade but not the spacer. New blade appears to be hitting the back spacer in the same spot but not as bad. May depend on who works the repair order whether they will perform this type of service.

I had a 710-3 delivered to me today. This is my second one, the first had no issues. Unfortunately, this 710-3 has a notch in the blade at the barrel spacer.
What's really bugging me is that there doesn't look like its hitting the barrel spacer. It looks as if they maybe repaired the spacing issue but didn't do any repair/replacement of the blade.
I purchased this knife new from the retailer. I'm sending it in for warranty repair tomorrow...bummer.
