Surfing KW’s site today and saw the new BM810-1801 Black and Gray G10 Contego listed. Not in stock yet but I’ll have to have one when instock. I have the KW 810-1401 blue and black love that knife it’s a cutting machine.

I saw that one. I currently have a Rift that the blade is awesome, but the pinky hump bugs me.

Uncoated stainless steel looks good.

I also put myself on the mailing list for that one @ KW. One of the knives I am looking forward to this year.

Yep I’m on the list also this is the must have benchmade for me this year so far. Plus price is very fair compared to $300 plus releases so far.

Is it missing the glass breaker? Not that I’m sure that dinky little thing would work... I once failed to break out the back window of a sedan with the muzzle of an 870.

I’m sure like the 810-1401 there’s no glass breaker which is a plus for some users and a negative for others. Personally, I like no glass breaker on this model.

Will this one have less aggressive texturing on the G10 compared to the standard m4 version? I read somewhere that the earlier knifeworks exclusive m390 (black and blue) was somewhat less abrasive.

Yeah this does not have the coarse peel ply texture like the standard M4 version.

I’m out.

I handled a regular Contego at a store on my way home today. The little hump towards the back end gets in the way of my pinky using a normal grip, just like the Rift does.

A shame, I like almost everything else about these two Benchmades.

Any chance we could send it in to have the liners replaced with the ones that have no jimping?
I love our 810-1401 but wanted more traction on the G10, Benchmade reported over the phone that they would not sell or swap out the Knifworks G10 FOR OEM G10 "we would be creating a knife we don't make, or something like that... hmmm wonder if any custom scale makers have an OEM set sitting around? Yep, and now I have an 810-1401 with the coarse peel ply texture of the OEM standard M4 version. I consider this knife almost perfect for gloved hand. But thinking a pinch bolt dangling on a lanyard fitted to hole in the backspacer at the butt of the knife ala Coldsteel Max, and a little melt for carry job all the way around would be both drool and grail worthy :-)
