Got an email today letting me know that the long awaited, at least for me, Benchmade 810 has finally come in at the dealer I regularly use. It will be arriving to me on Saturday, and what a nice way to finish out the weekend. Btw, this is the satin ( clear Cerakote finish ) plain edge blade I speak of. From the reviews so far this promises to be a very nice piece, and I know I am stoked!

Just had to get it off my chest.:)

I've been waiting for the satin version of this knife, I'm glad I did cause I didn't know how much longer I could've waited.

I was at the point that I was going to go ahead and get the BK coated, plain edge version, until this email arrived. Course if I like it as much as I like the 275 Adamas, I probably will end up with the black, plain edge blade.

Cant wait till GPknives gets it. I love my BK PE version, and I can't wait to see the clear cerakote one.

sorry, maybe a dumb question, but does the cerakote heat cure affect the temper?

Just off the top, with no knowledge of it, I would say no. I doubt any reputable knife company would use a coating that had to be heated to the point of ruining the blades temper.

CPM-M4 is a high speed tool steel, it's designed specifically to hold temper at high temperatures.

Cutter, I got a BK version about a week ago. I love my Adamas, but was blown away by the 810. Dude it's so much nicer than any pic could do it Justice. I may very well end up with three before it's over!

Mine came in this morning. Some first impressions, and first, the bad;

BAD
- no laynard hole, and that is it!

GOOD
- blade centered
- perfect blade grinds
- excellent sharpness out of box
- solid lockup
- great fit in my hand
- rides slim in my pocket so far
- just great fit/finish on everything
- only thing I did was to replace the pocket clip with one that carry's deeper

It is going to take a day or two to get accustomed to it being thinner than the Adamas, since I have been carrying it since January. But I think I will just because I really like the overall design of the Contego, especially the blade as I really, really love that reverse tanto, especially with the flat grind, .156" thick blade, and the 4" length.:)

Looks like I'm going to have to go with a 810BK also!

WOW!
i noticed its an osborne design, makes sense since it looks like a 940 on steroids.
come to think of it, those two would make a good pairing: a more civilized "gentlemens", and a "balls out" hard use version.

i've lost interest in the newer benchmades for sometime, but have only entertained the idea of getting a 940 if i ever get a bm again.
With this sweet current offering, i might have to patronize benchmade once again.

i'm aware this might say more about osborne's design ability, so i hope bm does a good job on the qc in bringing his idea to the consumer once again.

please give us an update after you've carried/used it for a few months.

I'll do so Nostimos.

Also wanted to mention that I really like the clear coated blade. The Cerakote coating gives the blade a gray color that looks great to my eye. How well it holds up will only be told with a little time on it.
