Which is the better knife in the areas of:
- Best locking feature
- Sharpest
- Fit and finish
- Carry-ability
Rather subjective I know, but I have no access to either of these to get my hands on them. Thanks.

Which is the better knife in the areas of:

- Best locking feature
-BM 940, Axis lock beats liner lock every time.

- Sharpest
-You'll have to sharpen either, eventually. Even though BM has improved their edges lately, IMO, the MT will probably have a better factory edge (based on the dozen or so new ones I've examined-all had very good edges).

- Fit and finish
-tie, based on the ones I have examined. Any other BM model, the MT would probably win, but BM really came through on the 940.

- Carry-ability
-940 by far, much lighter and more compact.

These are not really similar knives. The 940 is closer in size to a mini-Socom (which would be a dead tie for me except for locking mechanism reliability, and my preference for tip-up carry).
IMO, both are excellent knives, but they are very different.

Best locking feature – Benchmade. The LCC has a very good factory made liner lock, but for reliability and ease of use the Axis lock is a clear winner.

Sharpest – Microtech. They consistently deliver some of the sharpest factory knives out there. Benchmade is very hit-or-miss in this department, a pet peeve of mine with that company.

Fit and finish – Microtech. The LCC’s has excellent fit and finish (or at least the Titanium bolstered models I have had did), almost custom quality. The 940 is nicely made as well, and I like the blasted aluminum handle, but the LCC is sooo much nicer.

Carry-ability – Tie. This point accentuates the immense differences between the two knives.
The LCC is a solid, heavy knife, too large for pocket carry, but fortunately Microtech includes a very nice sheath with it, good for vertical or horizontal carry. The Benchmade is a very light, slim folder, good for even shirt pocket carry.

Which is the better knife in the areas of:

- Best locking feature:
BM 940 axis lock is not only one of the strongest it's ambidextrous.

- Sharpest:
From factory... LCC.

- Fit and finish:
Two different folders... Tie.

- Carry-ability:
The one that ends up in my pocket the most... BM. However, only by a narrow margin.

Best lock: 940
Sharpest: LCC
Fit & Finish: LCC
Carryability: 940

I have both of these knives and I like the LCC much better. I just think it is the better knife between these two.

Best Lock. The Axis lock is stronger. The locking liner is strong enough.

Sharpest. Meaningless. The knife becomes usharp as soon as you use it.

Fit and finish? It's a tie in my opinion. Both are excellent in this area.

Carryability. The nod here goes to the Benchmade because it is lighter. The Microtech LCC is stronger and tougher overall, though.

Obviously, I don't think either is a bad choice. Good luck.

Best locking feature:

- The strongest lock out there is probably the Axis Lock. But, I've never had a liner lock fail. Personally, don't care for the Axis Lock.....I prefer a liner lock.

Sharpest:

- Abosutely no doubt....LCC !

Fit and finish:

- Hands down........LCC !

Carry-ability:

- The 940 is approx 2.90 oz and I'm not sure of the weight of the LCC. Even if the LCC comes in at 5 oz..... The weight difference isn't that significant. Can see where the "carry-ability" would matter (between these 2 knives) if you were in a suit or lightweight pants. I carry in the right font pocket and left rear pocket without any problems. Don't care much for the LCC sheath that comes with the knife ~ having "Microtech" and a huge "shark" on the outer portion of the sheath kinda draws attention to the knife! I wish Microtech would go with a blacked-out type of sheath!

So, with the preference of a liner lock, one of the top 2 or 3 "sharpest out of the box" knives, and best fit and finish knives on the market......

Hell, carry-ability is definitely......LCC

Besides.....the BM940 is one ugly knife !

Thanks for the responses. You guys haven't really made it any easier.

Both seem to be good knives. Is the LCC really that bulky? Anyone have a picture of the two side by side opened up.

As has been said, the 940 and the LCC aren't really comparable. The LCC is a heavy duty tactical knife while the 940 is an all around carry folder for general utility. Its basic purpose is to be a utility tool and it shines as that. It does not frighten non-knife folks the way a tactical knife does and it is much easier to deploy as a tool when you need it for opening boxes, etc. The LCC will serve admirably as a utility tool, but its intent is as a tactical device and that is apparent when you look at it. It tends to make non-knife people nervous when you deploy it and it is generally too large and heavy for most of what I need a pocket knife to do. So, I would suggest that you consider what you want of the knife and then buy accordingly. Of course, you may just want to buy a particular knife, and I can surely understand that. I lusted for a Sifu and bought one although I have no earthly use for it. I just had to have something that politically incorrect, even if I am a Quaker.

I have 2 of each. I currently carry the LCC's. (just got a gen 4 D/A, man that KER-THWACK! is fun

Best Lock; Gotta say Axis

Sharpest; I like the flat ground blade of the LCC, it takes a wicked edge

Fit & Finish; a dead heat

Carry-ability; The 940 by virtue of it's smaller profile and lighter (MUCH lighter) weight. But I like to carry the LCC.

I generally have to agree with the majority view already expressed in this thread. The axis lock is every bit as good as MT's fit and finish. Tough choice.

I will throw one wildcard out there, however. The heat treat on every MT blade I've owned thus far has been very good. If I were to substitute the name Benchmade in that previous sentence I could use the word "most", but not "every".
