Hi all,
As promised, here are some shots of my new BM941 I received from newgraham. I thought I'd post some pics and a comparison, since it's hard to find good pictures of this knife on the web.
Why compare to my SOCFK? Well, it's the only other knife I have, lol
Plus they're both of the same quility and in the same price range.
I bought the 941 to have something just a little smaller and sleeker than the big Emerson. Something I could carry comfortably in work or summer clothes. It fits the bill perfectly. It's small, but has a nice size blade, and the pocket clip is close to the end of the grip so it sits low in the pocket.
Both of these knives are very well constructed. Although I love my Emerson, I must say the final finishing on the Benchmade is superior. I think that the Emerson is built a little beefier though, and if I had to put my life on the line, I'd probably choose it. I guess that's really their motto anyway. Performace and reliablitiy first.
The action on both these knives is really smooth. They both lock up solidly with absolutely no play. I like the axis lock quite a bit, but the liner lock on the Emerson is well designed and plenty tough as well.
Even though the blade length is almost identical and the overall length is quite similar, I feel that the BM is quite a bit smaller and less bulky both in my hand and in my pocket (or clipped IWB). It doesn't fill my hand quite as well as the Emerson, but that's to be expected.
I really like the blade design, and it was delivered super sharp. Many people believe Emerson's chisel edge just isn't as sharp, and I thought the same thing. But testing with my finger just didn't provide an accurate comparison. Cutting up some paper, boxes, and assorted junk led me to belive the Emerson is just as sharp, but for some reason just doesn't feel that way.
Overall, I'm very pleased with both these knives and would not hesitate to recommend either of them.
Let me know if you have any questions.
My work and light clothes carry.
Casual clothes and bulkier clothes with more pockets.
