BM943 handle too rough

My new Benchmade 943 arrive yesterday, and I love everything about it, except for the scales on the handle. The black anodization is rough, and just about every time my skin brushes it (whenever I hold it) I get the nails-on-a-chalkboard feel. I'm considering returning it for something else, but I'd like to find out what other options I have. What can be done to make the handle more comfortable for me?

Get a 940-1. Swap the blades. Sell the black Al handled 940. Keep the 943 with a C/F handle.

Mr. Wacko: you are right about the scale texture on the 943 being pretty tactile. Its hard to describe. Almost powdery? But yeah, I think you are pretty much stuck with it on the 943. I happen to like it, but your best and easiest bet may be to sell it and move on. Those knives are pretty well regarded, and I don't think you would have to much trubba moving it. Good luck.

I bought mine used from a friend, and I think after some use, it smooths out and loses some of that feel. Just my opinion, I very much enjoy the knife.

I LOVE THAT FEELING! lol seriously though I'm weird. I hate velvet though... Rub chalk on some velvet then cut your nails super super short and rub the ends on that crap. Next level

It should go away slightly

I have mixed feelings about that... feeling. Anodized aluminum handles always give me weird goosebumps when I touch them, my 940bk is the same way.

That's exactly what's happening to me. Weird goosebumps and it sets my teeth on edge.

That's what I'm reading, I'm just trying to figure out whether I can cope with it for long enough for that to happen. The other problem is that it's so rough, just brushing against a wall scrapes off paint, and now there's paint on the knife which is very hard to get off.

One of the options I'm considering is to return the 943, save up a little more money, and buy the 940-1. I really like the look of the 943, though.

I've had my 940 just about a week and a half now and through the use that I have done with it it seems to be getting better than when I first got it.It did bug be ever so slightly right off the bat. I believe that I read somewhere that someone use high grit sandpaper or it might have been scotch brite pad to help taking some of the chalkiness off. You might want to research doing that if it bothers you to the point of not using the knife.

Scrubbing my 940 with with dish soap and a pot scrubber removed the chalky feel of the handles without damaging them.

That's probably what you were talking about. I'll have to try that, because I do love the knife, but the feel of the handle bothers me to no end. Not just because of how it feels on my hand, but because anytime I brush against something, it effectively sands it, and that includes my pants.
