Edit: Title is bunked...wondering if I can do tip up carry. I have the same question about the Needs Work.

I cant seem to find any info on whether or not the clip is reversible on either of these models.

Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

J, I have several Boas, and some of them are drilled tip up/down (S30V, S60V and 440V), some are even drilled for LH carry (S30V ones), and some are drilled tip down only (440V)... I guess I should add that some of these go back to the first runs made, and some are newer. All were bought NIB.

Regardless, the Boa should be on everyone's must have list! Fantastic knife! One thing I first noticed about them is they tend to have "hard edges". The flipper, spine of the blade, and cut for the safety seemed harsh when I got my first one. To the point I didn't like carrying it. So I decided to make one of the S30V ones an EDC. I used fine sandpaper and a cushioned 1000 grit emery board, took my time, and completely "de-burred" the entire knife. There isn't a harsh edge left on it, other than the cutting edge, and it feels just like my Colt 1911 I sent to Les Baer for a work over - smooth as butter! I thinned it out to 24 inclusive, and I love it now. Just wished it had a lanyard hole!

Boa...

I have no idea about the Needs Work, tho.

Just got back from the knife shop. Scoped out the Boa. Still no OD-1s, didnt have the Needs Work in stock, or the Oso Sweet. Checked out the Skyline, nice knife, just not my flavor of choice. I really like the Random Leek S30V, but I avoid partially serrated utility knives. Have they ever done a plain edge in S30V?

I finally broke down and got a Lahar, the Boa has a pretty funky blade shape...not ruling it out, just a purchase for another day. Gotta agree with ya DV, that Lahar is one helluva lot of knife for the money...and it offers tip up!!!

Also picked up the discontinued Cammilus Cuda Hawkbill, a really rare model that my local guy just happened to have hiding in his shop. Fully serrated, ATS-34 at over 60RC, the funky "non-AO" sliding opening system that the Cuda line employed and a liner lock, and I left it with their custom knife maker to be re-tapped for tip up. Let alone that I got it for about 60% of MSRP. Good find.

Grabbed a CKRT Bear Claw for the garage, nice cutter for long cutting jobs, wore the first two I owned out, but for $25, they get the job done.

Also found a nice alternative for cheap flashlights if anyone wants a few to stash in multiple places. A brand called NexTorch...nice quality and design, about 85% as nice as a SureFire for under $30.

Try my brand of choice: Luma-Pro. 98% of a Surefire for $55. Their LED flashlights are 180+ lumens, not 25 like the NexTorch (that's three-year-old LED technology).

I got a one hour run time Xenon at 80 Lumens for $25...Ive got some nice LEDs and SureFires...I just think for $25 its a good every room light on the cheap...

Sure have. 1660TCKT. Long discontinued. I had 4 at one time.
I'm down to 2 and have FrankenLeeked them out.

I had STR flip my Kershaw to tip up carry, he did a great job for about $10 including shipping.

Yeah, Im gonna have him do my JYDII-CB and Spec Bump with new clips...the stock ones arent gonna work at all when reversed...
