The thread on longbows got me thinking here. I've been interested in longbows and flatbows for a long time, but haven't been able to find one that I can afford (no job means I don't buy anything right now).
Some internet sites have good directions on building a board bow out of red oak or similar wood, and the process doesn't sound too bad. Poorfolkbows.com has a flatbow build-along that looks pretty easy and it is clear enough that even those less crafty like myself can follow. I'm considering trying it out in the near future if I can get a decent board.
Have any of you tried anything similar or even built other types of traditional bows? I'd be interested to hear if you did or have any suggestions. Pictures would be great too!
Thanks a lot!
