I was wondering if I am going to have any problems when I drive into and back out of Canada, when I bring my BATAC along, if by chance the vehicle is stopped and searched. I will be crossing the boarder at International Falls MN. And the last thing that I want to happen is for me to lose my knife.
Thanks for you advice.

I know that is not the answer you want to hear but is probably closest to the truth. And what it depends on is the totality of the circumstances. If you are enroute to a two month yukon paddling expedition and are carrying all your gear it probably won't even be noticed. OTOH, if you show up astride a hardtail shovelhead and haven't bathed in a week, odds are you and your blade will be parting company if you continue heading north. Is it right, of course not. But it is the way it works.

As a LEO myself, it is often the totality of the circumstances which carry the most weight in decision making. "Is this activity in and of itself illegal?" Y/N If it is not on the surface illegal but questionable "Does the scenario make sense?" Y/N. If no, you will be detained until I'm satisfied.

LOL, when LEOs agree with you, you know things are messed up. Was wondering this myself, might go on a motorcycle trip to Canada in a couple of weeks and would easily be bringing a couple of knives. Sighs, wish knives were better perceived by people. Then again, if they were they'd lose some allure IMO. Just need to be careful I guess.
