boat trip ***PIC HEAVY***

today i went for a boat trip. it was a little last minute but it was awesome and the weather was beautiful. but near the end it was over cast. we saw lots of whales and harbor porpoise (related to the dolphin). as well as seals, there were tons of them.

now the whale is just breaking the surface on out port (left) side. center of picture.

we then stopped on a beach and had a fire and cooked some hot dogs

i used my becker bk7 and "light my fire" fire steel to start a fire. i was carrying the spyderco pacific salt and used it to make spyder dogs.

Neat pics. "Spyder dogs" - and to think my kids called (past tense) them "spider dogs." Pretty sure we'll get it correct going forward.

oh yeah flat bottom boats like these or boston whalers used by the us coast guard are almost impossible to flip. they are also filled with foam so you can even cut them in half and still drive them!

That's my stomping grounds(paddling, actually). I'm looking at doing a few days paddling down there tomorrow. My son was actually out whale watching yesterday as well in the same area. Where did you start your trip?
